From late Ambareesh to Yash: Actors who played the lead role in 2018

The year 2018 has been an eventful year. While fans of some actors missed seeing their favourite superstars on the silver screen this year, others were fortunate enough to make their mark this year. Actors like Darshan, Puneet Rajkumar and Upendra had no release this year while Sudeep, Sharan and Satish, Jaggesh, Ganes, Diganth, Ajay Rao, Prem, Prajwal, Nirup Bhandari and Jayaram Karthik Manoranjan received attention for their movies this year. Here we give you a rundown of actors who played lead roles in 2018.

Ambareesh

Late Rebel Star Ambareesh played a lead role after quite some time in the movie ‘Ambi Ning Vayassaytho’. However, this turned out to be his last film as the veteran actor left for his heavenly abode recently. The film, that received mixed reactions from the audience and the critics alike created a new trend in Sandalwood. Ambareesh played the role of a lover boy who broke up at a young age and goes in search of her at the old age.

Ananth Nag

‘Sarkari Hi. Pra. Shaale, Kasaragodu, Koduge: Ramanna Rai’ was one of the biggest hit in 2018. Ananth Nag’s acting in this movie mesmerized the audience. Ananth Nag acted with the children in this movie. Rishab Shetty was one of the big reasons for the success of this movie. Ananth Nag played the role of a lawyer in this movie who protects the Kannada medium school in Karela.

Shivarajkumar

Shivarajkumar remained the most demanding and successful actor in Sandalwood this year too. The actor produced two successful movies namely, ‘Tagaru’ and ‘The Villain’. Shivarajkumar’s performance in ‘Tagaru’ was stunning. ‘The Villain’, however, didn't match up to the mark. It reportedly did quite well at the box-office.

Sudeep

Sudeep is one of the biggest stars in Sandalwood, but he also works in other industries. Sudeep was a part of four movies this year. Sudeep played the guest role in the movie 'Raju Kannada Medium' and ‘Kichchu’ while he played a pivotal role in multi-starrers like ‘The Villain’ and ‘Ambi Ninge Vaisaitho’ which was successful at the box-office. Sudeep played a special role in 'Raju Kannada Medium'. Sudeep also signed many other movies in Tollywood and Hollywood this year.

Yash

Yash, who was busy with 'KGF' from past two years, did not sign up for any other movie. Yash completed ‘KGF’ this year released on December 21 and has been receiving positive reviews from both audience and fans alike. Rocking Star Yash has reportedly delivered a mind-blowing performance in the movie. This movie was released in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Malayalam.

Sharan and Satish

2018 was the biggest year for both Sharan and Satish. Sharan who has produced two movies 'Rambo 2' and 'Victory 2' which is sequel movie of ‘Rambo’ and ‘Victory’ featured Sharan in a lead role. Satish Ninasam also got a big break from the movie ‘Ayogya’ which ran for more than 100 days, becoming the most successful film of his career.
