Monsoon melodies of Bollywood

After a sultry and dry weather, the first drop of rain seems like heaven. Monsoon brings the feeling of happiness, cool breeze, and nature drenched in rain. And when we associate monsoon with Bollywood, it has imbibed the feeling of romance, passion, intensity and some endless feelings. There is no denying that the industry has always managed to portray larger than life image of the actors and the situations too. Believe it or not, but the weather and environment have given us one of the greatest poets of the time. Be it the weather or the mood, the songs have evoked one of the craziest and peppy songs our industry has ever had. Here is the list of the monsoon melodies and you might start perceiving rain like you never did before.

'Pyaar Hua Ikraar Hua'

This is one of the all-time favourite songs of Bollywood. When you imagine this song, the imagery of Raj Kapoor and Nargis Dutt sharing the umbrella flashes in your mind. The black and white song is one of the eternal monsoon melodies of Bollywood. The song had the music composed by the composer duo of Shankar-Jaikishan and lyrics penned by Shailendra.

'Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si'

The eternal song had the multifaceted Kishore Kumar who was at his flirtatious best trying to woo the timeless beauty Madhubala. The song also saw healthy bantering and it is one of the most memorable hits of monsoon which promised beauty, wit, romance. The song had music composed by S D Burman and lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri.

'Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein'

The song was known for the most evocative lyrics of the time. It saw Rajesh Khanna and Zeenat Aman canoodling at their best and enjoying getting drenched in the rain. The song evoked romantic escapades amongst the two. And with your loved one by your side, this song will definitely add fuel to your romantic mood. Sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar, it has music by RD Burman and lyrics by Anand Bakshi.

'Rim Jhim Gire Sawan'

The song which glorifies the rain will make you want to take a stroll on the wet lanes and corners of Mumbai. The famous Marine Drive and other landmarks of the city make this a typical Mumbai number. It sees Amitabh Bachchan and Moushumi Chatterjee walking on the water-clogged streets amidst a heavy downpour.

'Tip Tip Barsa Paani'

The song that sees the sensuous Raveena Tandon and Akshay Kumar drenched in the rain is still remembered for its lyrics and music. The rhythmic beats saw Raveena Tandon in her sizzling avatar at her sensuous best. Viju Shah's music and Anand Bakshi's lyrics make this a magical rainy song.

'Barso Re'

The song from 'Guru' became an all-time hit. Sung by Shreya Ghoshal, the song was a melodious number which is the ultimate hit of the monsoon season. The song sees the beauty, Aishwarya Rai, enjoying the rain. AR Rahman, the music maestro created some foot-tapping music and showcased the lush green farms and the villages of Kerala.
