Why Salman may have bagged Shuddhi

There has been a lot of speculation about Karan Johar's ambitious project - Shuddhi. Rumour mills were abuzz with Salman Khan bagging the project, and it seems like the confirmation has come right from the horse's mouth. According to a report in DNA, Salman Khan was quoted saying, "Yes, I am doing Karan Johar's film called Shuddhi which I would probably start in a while." However the leading lady opposite the actor is yet to be finalised, with names like Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif being rumoured to be a part of the project.

Karan Johar initially wanted to cast the dream pair of Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor. The two actors who were allegedly linked, had not worked together since long. And just when fans were getting excited about the lead pair, Hrithik and Kareena dropped out of the film. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, around 10 days ago, Karan Johar met Salman Khan at his Bandra residence, the duo had a meeting over the script of Shuddhi and they departed on a positive note.

Karan getting close to Salman- Karan Johar and Salman Khan hit it off like a house on fire. The two were spotted at several occasions in each other's company. Karan and Salman allegedly became the new best of friends of Bollywood, to the surprise B-town. It came as a shocker as Karan was warming up to Shah Rukh Khan's arch rival. Karan Johar was spotted spending a lot of time with Salman Khan at parties. According to a report on NDTV, Karan remained stuck to Salman like glue at one of the parties, which shocked the several guests there. Also Salman was invited as the first guest on KJo's popular chat show, Koffee with Karan.

Salman's popularity- Salman Khan is a popular hero, at the peak of his career right now. Salman has been belting out hits and had his hands full with major projects already. Barring the disappointment of Jai Ho, Salman has maintained his successful streak. The actor's huge fan following might work just right for Karan Johar's troubled project. With Salman's name being attached to the film, Shuddhi might get even more eyeballs. Besides, KJo and Salman have not worked together since a long time and their Jodi might just create interesting fireworks at the box office.

KJo's wish to work with Salman- Karan Johar had also reportedly stated that he wants to work with Salman Khan again. According to a Mumbai Mirror report, Salman Khan had been on KJo's list to work with since a long time and the opportunity cropped up in a unique way. A source stated in a Mumbai Mirror report that Karan Johar is already making a film with Rohit Shetty and that Salman is being considered for the project. While no confirmation comes from either ends, the buzz states Karan Johar is planning to cast Salman in Shuddhi.

Growing disparity with SRK- Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan have been thick of friends since a long time. However with Karan Johar inching towards Salman Khan, reports stated of a growing disparity between SRK and KJo. Rumours of differences reached its peak when Shah Rukh Khan did not appear on KJo's chat show. SRK used to be a regular on Karan's Koffee couch, but last season he gave it a miss. One of the reasons explored was that Salman was a guest on the show.
