Salman Khan on Yakub Memon's petition: Opinions divided

As Salman Khan got a bit emotional and went on to tweet that the accused in the 1993 bomb blasts, Yakub Memon, is being hanged while his brother Tiger Memon is hiding, he unexpectedly hit the hornet’s nest as the tweeples rose to counter his feelings with a large chunk of the social media criticising Bajrangi Bhaijaan, even to the extent of calling him anti-religious. While Salman later retracted his tweets on the advice of his father Salim Khan for ‘having the potential to create misunderstanding’, read on to know the stand of both the sides of the debate…

Salman Khan’s supporter and BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha, Naseeruddin Shah, and Mahesh Bhatt were among the 40 personalities who signed the Yakub Memon petition. Former actor and father of Salman’s Dabangg co-star Sonakshi Sinha, Shatrughan said, “Supporting anybody's mercy petition is not a bad thing. I know Salman Khan for a long time. He is a good man. He has not said anything wrong about Yakub Memon, who has already filed a mercy petition. I think there is no harm in supporting anybody's mercy petition," reports PTI.

Well, not many went ‘Khamosh’ over his reaction and Twitter went buzzing all day over the issue…

Adding more weight to Salman Khan’s thoughts, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt also took to Twitter to express himself in detail. He tweeted, “Andy Warhol said everyone would be famous for 15 minutes -- and now everyone can have an self-important opinion.” [sic] Taking the other side head on, Bhatt tweeted, “Twitter reflects the kind of people we've become: self-obsessed,cynical, restless. But if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.” [sic]

However, Salman Khan and others supporting Yakub Memon received a huge backlash on the social networking website with people from Baba Ramdev to Rahul Mahajan coming out against it. Reality TV star Rahul Mahajan tweeted, “Sure #YakubMemon 's death sentence should be converted into life ... But only if he can covert death of bomblast victims into life now.” [sic]

Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya also reacted, “Whatever@BeingSalmanKhan tweeted is totally meaningless. I do not support it.. Har Marne Wala Hindu Muslim sirf Hindustani tha (all Salman’s comments are meaningless as all Hindus and Muslims killed in 1993 blasts were Indians.)” [sic]

Not only celebs boldly expressed their opposition to Salman Khan’s tweets, but yoga guru Baba Ramdev also responded saying that hanging the traitors is important, but the enemies of humanity and nation should also be taught a lesson.

But these views completely belong to the tweeples and we do not support or oppose them. But do you support Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s views on the matter or oppose the Being Human ambassador?
