'Judwaa 2': Here are some rare pictures of Salman Khan's 'Judwaa'

The 1997 madcap comedy that inspired ‘Judwaa 2’ is filled with memorable moments that left us in splits. With the film’s ready for release, the nostalgia surrounding its predecessor ‘Judwaa’ starring Salman Khan is higher than ever. Here’s looking at some rare pictures of Salman Khan’s ‘Judwaa’.
2/7

The moment when their paths cross

Salman Khan played a pair of twins separated at birth in this comedy of errors of sorts, inspired by 1992 film ‘Twin Dragons’. The film had them living their lives as different as chalk and cheese, until this moment. Hilariously placed in the men’s restroom, the twins unite in a twist of fate as they empty their bladders. This scene is memorable for its great timing and placement of the whole reveal.

Kader Khan’s impeccable chemistry with Tiku Talsania

In a career spanning over four decades, veteran actor-writer Kader Khan has acted in over 20 films helmed by director David Dhawan. In another successful collaboration, David and Kader created magic once again as they worked one more time in ‘Judwaa’. This time around, Kader had ace actor Tiku Talsania for company as a foil to his character. With their hot and cold moments, the two presented many a hilarious scene.

What made ‘Oonchi Hai Building’ and ‘Tan Tana Tan’ such big hits

In a year where he delivered legendary musical compositions for films like ‘Virasat’, ‘Hamesha’, ‘Auzaar’, ‘Ishq’ and ‘Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi’, Anu Malik also ended up receiving a Filmfare Award nomination for the Best Music Director for ‘Border’, which released in the same year. Along with the bevy of hits that he delivered, Anu Malik also created the memorable music for ‘Judwaa’. The album which boasted of multiple chartbusters featured street-smart lyrics and hummable tunes that became instant earworms. To top off the greatness of the score, the energetic songs were pictured on an equally energetic lot of Salman Khan, Rambha and Karisma Kapoor who swung their way to glory in these numbers.

The bumbling cops that are always on Raja’s trail

In a bid to escape from prison, Salman Khan and Shakti Kapoor’s characters remind one of the way Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra’s Jay and Veeru from ‘Sholay’ plan their getaway. The hilarious duo of Anupam Kher and Satish Shah play the bumbling cops who are always on their trail in ‘Judwaa’. Their ‘Tom and Jerry’ like the banter between them kept the proceedings funny throughout.

Raja and Rangeela’s friendship is eternal

The stammering Rangeela played by Shakti Kapoor, is there for Salman Khan’s Raja, come what may. The two raise hell and play the perfect partners in crime, literally and figuratively so much so that their friendship knows no bounds. Their pairing provides one of the most memorable scenes of the film. Reportedly, Rajpal Yadav will be reprising Shakti Kapoor’s role in Varun Dhawan’s ‘Judwaa 2’.

The menacing flute-wielding Mukesh Rishi

‘Judwaa’ was a remake of the Telugu film ‘Hello Brother’ which starred Nagarjuna along with Ramya Krishna and Soundarya in the lead roles. Mukesh Rishi, who played many antagonistic roles in the ‘90s, stepped in to play the film’s villain. His character was embellished with a rather innovative weapon, a musical flute, which was even used in ‘Hello Brother’ by actor-politician Napoleon. It remains to be seen if the same ‘weapon’ is retained in ‘Judwaa 2’.
