Chacha Chaudhary: Which actors could play characters from the comics

Cartoonist Pran Kumar Sharma who made childhood memorable for a majority of Indians with his funny characters and adventurous comic books passed away on August 6, 2014 at the age of 75. Pran's two characters Chacha Chaudhary and Sabu especially became very popular. Although, Chacha Chaudhary comic books were adapted for television, we wonder if some of Pran's famous characters ever came together in a full length feature film then who would be the preferred choice.

Chacha Chaudhary - Chacha Chaudhary was a tiny man with a brain that was faster than a computer. With a very recognisable red turban and white mustache, Chacha Chaudhary's character is etched in our minds forever. While actor Raghuveer Yadav brought the iconic character to reality for TV, it would be fun to watch actor Pankaj Kapur play Chacha Chaudhary in a film. Pankaj Kapur is a wonderful actor who can easily mould his way into any character. We have loved him as the good old Mussadilal in the TV show 'Office Office' and also as the Hindi teacher in 'Zabaan Sambhal Ke'. His work in the film industry has also been spectacular and it would be a treat for all the fans of the comic books.

Sabu - Apart from Chacha Chaudhary, another iconic character from the comic book series was Sabu. Sabu was from the planet Jupiter and they said that whenever he got angry, a volcano in Jupiter surely erupted. Sabu is described as someone who is very tall and exceptionally strong, and just to this description alone, our vote goes to The Great Khali. Wrestler Khali who was also seen in the reality TV show 'Bigg Boss' would do a good job of the same. Khali's physique is probably the only one that can come close to Sabu's character.

Chachi - Chacha Chaudhary's wife in the comic series loves her husband, dotes on Sabu but at the same time gets angry with the duo for their dangerous antics at the drop of a hat. While Chachaji is stick thin, his wife is quite plump. Keeping the characteristics of Chachi or Bini in mind, two names come up in our minds. One can be TV's loud mouthed actor Dolly Bindra and the other can be comedian Bharti Singh. Both these women can audition for the role of Chachiji if a film on the same is ever made. Out of the two, who do you think suits Chachi's character better?

Pinki - Apart from the Chacha Chaudhary series that was hugely popular, there are some other characters that Pran created that became very popular. A comic book series on Pinki was amongst them. Pinki is this young girl with a short blunt haircut and wears her matching hairband according to the colour of her dress. While she is good at heart, Pinki usually makes funny blunders and goes on correcting them in the stories. We think actress Alia Bhatt would do a good job as Pinki if filmmakers ever decide to make a movie on it. Jokes around Alia's comments on the popular chat show 'Koffee With Karan' may also be the reason why we would love to see her play Pinki.

Billu - While Pinki was a famous character, another floppy haired guy named Billu gained popularity as well. Billu was easy to identify with his messy hair that always covered his eyes. He was funny and smart but would also end up in goofy situations most of the times. We think out of the current crop of actors in Bollywood, Ranveer Singh would be fun to watch as Billu. Ranveer Singh pulled the roadside romeo look as Bittoo in 'Band Baaja Baarat' with ease and we think he would do a good job of playing Billu as well. We now wonder who will play Josie, Billu's girlfriend in the comic book series?

Rocket - Its not just Chacha Chaudhary, his wife and Sabu that need to be translated on the big screen, but Chacha's loyal dog Rocket as well. A Chacha Chaudhary adaptation is incomplete without his dog 'Rocket' and we have a lot of contenders for the same in Bollywood. While the good old Tuffy from 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun' can be a strong contender, we can also take Akshay Kumar's onscreen buddy 'Entertainment' for the part. The dog in Akshay Kumar's 'Entertainment' may not be loyal to him but he looks like the kinds who can help Chacha Chaudhary in fighting the criminals.

Raka- Sabu and Chacha Chaudhary usually fight a large number of criminals but they mostly have a permanent villain 'Raka' always lurking in the corner. Raka is strong and powerful but Chacha Chaudhary and Sabu always manage to score over him. Nikitin Dheer who was the villain int he very popular 'Chennai Express' and played the role of Tangaballi would be suitable to play Raka. Like Raka, Nikitin is strong and powerful and we think he would do justice to the role.
