Bollywood celebs who won't cast their vote

Some may call it pure professionalism while the others would diss at the fact that a handful of Bollywood's favourite celebrities are ditching the polls this time round. It came as a shock when we found out that some of the popular names in the film business have headed out of the country just a few days before the polls in Mumbai while a few have faced other problems while voting. Let's find out what is stopping these celebrities from casting their vote...

Shabana Azmi- The activist-actor of Bollywood, Shabana Azmi may not forgo any opportunity to voice her opinions on burning issues that plague the country like the condition of the slum dwellers and many more. While she likes to project herself as a thinking actor who is anything but the conventional 'heroine', Shabana Azmi disappointed us when we read news reports that she won't be in town to cast her vote. Shabana Azmi who will be participating in the FICCI-IIFA Global Business Forum at the Tampa Convention Center on April 24-25 ditched voting and left with hubby Javed Akhtar for the US.

Saif Ali Khan- Saif Ali Khan received a lot of flak for not being in the country for the voting day in Mumbai. The actor who is hosting the India International Film Awards' section IIFA Magic of the Movies and Technical Awards skipped his vote and left for the United States. A news report in the Times of India dated April 10, 2014 says that being contractually bound, the Saif will not be able to cancel going for an awards show in the US, his spokesperson said. Last November, Saif and his co-stars had participated in a voter awareness bike rally — as a lead-up to the Delhi Assembly elections — while promoting his film 'Bullet Raja'. He had also reached out to youngsters, asking them to cast their votes. A member of the State Assembly had, a couple of days ago, written to the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, seeking action against the actors who are planning to give the elections a miss.

Kareena Kapoor Khan- It is not just husband Saif Ali Khan who is not exercising his right to vote, his begum Kareena Kapoor joins him in the same. While Saif has to host a segment of the Awards ceremony, his wife Kareena Kapoor is performing at the awards. According to reports, Bebo will be performing to her hit songs and hence has already left for Florida. The four day long award ceremony in the US has made a lot of actors to loose their vote.

Bollywood celebs who won't cast their vote

Sonakshi Sinha- While her daddy dearest Shatrughan Sinha is a proud member of the Bhartiya Janta Party, beti Sonakshi Sinha is on the other hand not going to cast her vote at all! Yes, you read that right actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha's daughter Sonakshi Sinha has left for the IIFA Awards in Florida without casting her vote. The actress was snapped at the airport while leaving for the US. What is strange is that while promoting her film 'Bullet Raja' with Saif Ali Khan, Sonakshi had participated in a voter awareness bike rally before the Delhi assembly elections. But when it came for them to vote, both Sonakshi and Saif left the country without casting theirs.

Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan- Actors, filmmakers and brothers Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan may not be able to vote as well this time. According to a news report in Mid-Day, Sohail and Arbaaz's names are not there in the voting list this time. What comes as a surprise is that their brother Salman Khan's name is there in the voter's list but not theirs. In the report, Sohail said that he will go with his father Salim Khan to cast his vote and is hoping that his name appears on the list. If the celebrities are only unable to cast their vote because of these issues, we can only imagine what the common man faces...
