Hema Malini has carried her Bollywood charm to politics too. The actress makes up for a very notable politician. This year, for the Lok Sabha elections, Hema Malini was campaigning from Mathura. Hema Malini had stated on social networking site that she won by 3 50 567 votes and that even she didn't imagine this margin. The actress had posted on Twitter: "News coming from all over that the Congress has been hit by a Tsunami in the form of BJP! The country has decidedly voted for change!"

LOST:Bappi Lahiri tried to bring in all the glamour to West Bengal, as the musician took part in elections from there. In an interview to The Times of India, Bappi da has said, "I believe in deeds and not mere words. I am into politics but am not a politician. I am not here to make promises, I am here to work, I want my deeds to speak for myself." However it seems that Bollywood is his only calling.

However the actor had at face defeat.

Smriti Irani was a strong candidate from BJP. She was contesting elections from Amethi, opposite Rahul Gandhi. However the actress turned politician couldn't defeat the congress candidate. At the start of the day, Smriti Irani had cheerfully tweeted: "Best wishes to all BJP candidates and grateful thanks to all karyakartas for their selfless contribution towards building a stronger Nation."
