5 Lessons of love from Bollywood

Friendship is the foundation of love: Friendship is easy but love is difficult. However, what happens when your best friend becomes your lover. When you're growing up together, you bond with each other. It is only a friend who can be counted upon to see you through your bad phases. Even Bollywood has come up with movies where friendship was the foundation of love. While Kuch Kuch Hota Hai immortalised friendship before love, Jaane Tu...Ya Jaane Na also showed how two friends realise their love for each other. In both films, the men fall for a different girl initially but circumstances lead them back to their best friend. Hence, they say your best friend can be the best lover you can ever have.

Truth triumphs: Who said love was easy? Be it non-willing parents or caste or other social issues, people who fall in love have always had to face many obstacles before they finally get to marry the love of their lives. Love gives you the strength to break all barriers to finally win over. In Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Shah Rukh Khan had to face many obstacles before he finally won true love. Be it an unwilling father-in-law or the imminent threat of his sweetheart's wedding, King Khan woos his lady love and her family to emerge victorious in his endeavour.

Age is no bar: 'Age is just a number,' stands true when it comes to love. Bollywood says that love is about compatibility, not age. Bollywood has time and again come up with beautiful stories of a young girl falling for men twice her age. While Lamhe was a story where Sridevi falls in love with a man who is her father’s age, Nishabd also revolved around a similar story line. Movies like Ek Choti Si Love Story, Mera Naam Joker and Nasha have also beautifully depicted love between a younger man and an older woman.

No one is perfect: There are many differently-abled individuals in the world who are completely capable of love and deserve to be loved back. Bollywood has always come up with inspiring stories where people with physical and mental disabilities have fought against all odds to find love. Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Barfi! is a beautiful love story between a deaf and mute man and an autistic girl. Similarly, Saajan is also the love story of an impoverished orphan who cannot walk falling for a normal girl. Such movies prove that no disorder can stand in the way of love.

Money does not matter: When two people fall in love, they don’t pay attention to their partner’s bank balance, size of the home or the number of cars they have. They fall in love with the person. Movies like Raja Hindustani have depicted this beautifully. The film is a love story between a cab driver and a rich girl and how they fight all obstacles to be with each other. Such stories inspire us to believe in the goodness of people and fall for the inner beauty rather than their wealth.
