Lalit Modi have once again placed
Sushmita Sen in the spotlight. His statements arrived while discussing the criticism that emerged after their relationship became public in 2022.
During a conversation with Humans of Bombay, Lalit looked back at that phase and spoke about the reactions that followed online. He also addressed the "gold digger" label attached to the actress during that period and strongly defended her. While discussing the issue, Lalit described Sushmita as an independent woman who built her career through her own efforts.
He suggested that the public narrative surrounding their relationship did not reflect reality.
While recalling their time together, he said, "She paid for everything; I was like a kept boyfriend." His remarks have now triggered fresh discussions across social media.
Throwback to Sushmita Sen's earlier statements
Amid the renewed attention, an old incident involving Sushmita has also started resurfacing online.
Back in 2018, the actress attended an event in Mumbai and was asked to share her views regarding women's safety and experiences connected to public spaces.
During the interaction, she spoke openly about situations women often face despite security arrangements.
As quoted by The Indian Express, Sushmita Sen said, “So many times people think we don’t encounter things like misbehavior because we have bodyguards. Let me tell you, even with ten bodyguards around, we are dealing with a crowd of at least a hundred men who have often managed to misbehave with us.”
Sushmita Sen recalled a disturbing experience
During the same interaction, Sushmita also recalled an incident that took place at an award function. She explained that the situation involved a teenager who behaved inappropriately in a crowded environment.
Recalling the incident, the actor said, “Six months ago at an award function, a fifteen-year-old boy misbehaved with me as he thought I wouldn’t realize because of the crowd around. But he was wrong. I grabbed his hand from behind me, and I was shocked to see he was so young; he was just fifteen!”
The actress further explained that she confronted him immediately
“I held him by his neck and took him for a walk. I told him if I make a hue and cry, his life will be over. He denied having misbehaved at first, but I sternly told him to acknowledge it. He realized his mistake, said sorry, and promised me that it would never happen again,” she continued.
Explaining her decision not to proceed further legally, she added:
“I didn’t take an action against him because I understood that the fifteen-year-old was not taught that such things are an offense and not entertainment," added the actor.
On the professional front, Sushmita has largely shifted her focus toward digital projects in recent years.
Her last Bollywood theatrical release came with 'No Problem' in 2010, while 'Nirbaak' marked her final feature film appearance in 2015. She later returned through projects such as 'Aarya' and 'Taali.'
