Jaya Bachchan went down memory lanes to recall a shocking incident involving the media just after
Abhishek Bachchan and
Aishwarya Rai’s big fat wedding in 2007.
The Bachchan family was left is shock and
Amitabh Bachchan even lost his cool when a photographer put himself in danger to click pictures of Aishwarya’s ‘griha pravesh’. Incidentally, Aishwarya and Abhishek’s wedding was a close-door event, and it didn’t go well with the barred media persons and a few members of the film fraternity. Jaya further revealed that despite making arrangements for the press to take pictures of the newlyweds, things got worse after the incident and ended with the Bachchans’ property was even pelted with stones.
The veteran actress recalled that when they were bringing Aishwarya to the house for the ‘griha pravesh’, Amitabh was driving the car and Aishwarya was sitting in the car. There was a special podium for the media for taking pictures but not everyone was satisfied with the arrangements. One photographer suddenly jumped on the bonnet of the car. He could have been seriously injured or died. Amitabh lost his temper seeing this and the security persons had to take some strong action. It led to a backlash as in the evening media led a ‘morcha’, and they started throwing stones.
Aishwarya and Abhishek got married in 2007 and welcomed their daughter Aaradhya in 2011. The Bachchan family has always been a favourite for paparazzi and Jaya Bachchan has often expressed her unhappiness about how the press follow them to take pictures. On several occasions she has been spotted criticizing photographers for following her around.
