Vir Das SLAMS airline after struggling to get a wheelchair for injured wife

Comedian and actor Vir Das recently faced a frustrating travel experience when an airline failed to provide his injured wife with assistance. Taking to social media, Vir shared how things went wrong—despite paying premium fares and pre-booking wheelchair support for a flight to Delhi.

Seats were broken
Vir claimed that despite booking the airline’s premium service and requesting a wheelchair well in advance, things didn't go according to plan. "My wife and I book Pranaam and a wheelchair because she’s got a foot fracture that’s still healing. We’re flying to Delhi. 50 grand a seat. Broken table, broken leg rests, her seat is stuck reclined and won’t straighten fully. Were told the flight is ‘newly refurbished’,” Vir wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).


Two-hour delay and still no help
Things only got worse when the flight, already two hours late, finally landed in Delhi.He claimed that not only was there no wheelchair waiting, but there also didn’t seem to be any plan in place to help the couple disembark.


With no assistance offered by the airline’s team, Vir claimed that had no choice but to do everything, including finding a wheelchair and pushing his wife through the airport. “I grab a chair and wheel her to baggage claim, then out of the airport to the parking. Encalm lets air India know this is happening. No one shows. Anyway. One of your wheelchairs is on the second floor of the parking in Delhi. Do claim it,” he wrote.

The Airline responds
After his post gained traction, the airline did assure that they would look into the matter.
