Newsmakers of the week,
Vicky Kaushal and
Kiara Advani will be teaming up for a song in
Shashank Khaitan's ‘Mr Lele’, to be shot in Alibaug some time next week. The duo was recently spotted at a dance rehearsal hall to prep for the song, which is likely to be a big one.
This song will also see the return of background dancers in a big way, since the lockdown and pandemic related restrictions had limited the use of too many people on sets.
To be choreographed by Tushar Kalia, the song will have at least 40 to 60 dancers, which has definitely made a lot of them happy to be back on set. A source says, “Dancers are now getting work, including the senior dancers, as big films from Bollywood have begun shooting for regular song sequences again.”
‘Mr Lele’ had started with
Varun Dhawan as the lead, but the project had to be put on hold after the pandemic struck. Director Shashank Khaitan decided to stall the project temporarily as the pre-production cost would shoot up. But, it was later revived with a new announcement of Vicky Kaushal playing the lead with
Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani portraying the leading ladies of the film.
The trend of returning to shoot elaborate dance numbers began with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. SLB shot the last song for his film with
Alia Bhatt employing 20 background dancers after the
Maharashtra government lifted the ban on shooting under strict guidelines.
