‘Thalaivi’, ‘Tejas’, 'Dhaakad': Kangana Ranaut's upcoming films to watch out for

Kangana Ranaut has impressed with powerful performances in films like 'Fashion', ‘Queen’, ‘Gangster’, ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, amongst others. The actress, who recently bagged the National Film Award in the Best Actress category for ‘Panga’ and ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’, has been flitting from the sets of one film to the other. She has an interesting list of films lined up for release in the months ahead. Check them out:

Thalaivi

With a trailer that took social media by a storm upon release, ‘Thalaivi’ will be hoping to repeat the feat on the the big screens on April 23. Kangana transforms into actress-turned politician late J Jayalalithaa, for the biopic, which will also feature Prakash Raj, Arvind Swami, Jisshu Sengupta, and Madhoo.

Dhaakad

Helmed by filmmaker Razneesh Ghai, this film will see Kangana essay the role of agent Agni. Promising power-packed action scenes, the film reportedly deals with serious issues of child trafficking and crimes against women. It will also star Arjun Rampal and Divya Dutta in pivotal roles.

Tejas

Marking the directorial debut of Sarvesh Mewara, ‘Tejas’ will have Kangana play an Air Force pilot. The actress has already shared her first look from the film. Talking about the role, she had earlier shared, “Very often the sacrifices made by our brave women in uniform go unnoticed by the nation. 'Tejas' is a film where I have the honour of playing the role of one such Air Force pilot that puts country before self. I hope we instill a sense of patriotism and pride in the youth of today with this film”.

Manikarnika Returns: The Legend Of Didda

After the success of ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’, the actress announced the second installment titled ‘Manikarnika Returns: The Legend Of Didda’, a film based on the history of Kashmiri queen Didda, who was the first female monarch of Kashmir and had defeated Mehmood Ghaznavi twice, despite being struck by polio in one leg. While the film has landed in a controversy soon after its announcement, it’s expected to go on floors in January 2022.

Untitled political drama on Indira Gandhi

Kangana will be seen slipping into the skin of the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, in an upcoming political drama. While Sai Kabir’s directorial is not just another biopic, it will highlight significant moments of Indian political history including Operation Blue Star and The Emergency. Talking about it, Kangana shared an old pic from a photoshoot wherein she was dressed as the former PM, and tweeted, “This is a photoshoot about iconic women I did in the beginning of my career, little did I know one day I will get to play the iconic leader on screen". The makers are yet to announce more details about the film.
