Sunjay Kapur's Rs 30,000 crore will: Delhi High Court asks Priya Kapur to respond to Karisma Kapoor's children's plea to inspect document
The Delhi High Court has sought a response from Priya Kapur, widow of the late businessman Sunjay Kapur, after the children of actor Karisma Kapoor moved a plea requesting inspection of their father's alleged original will, dated March 21, 2025. According to reports this is the document that purportedly leaves Kapur's assets reportedly worth Rs 30,000 crore almost entirely to Priya, thus sparking a bitter inheritance battle.
On the other hand, the counsel for Priya Sachdev Kapur claimed the application had been filed after they described the plaintiffs' claims as "bogus and baseless". In an earlier hearing, they had said, "A will cannot be called fake because of spelling errors, and they have not even disputed Sunjay Kapur's signature".
The counsel argued that after this point was raised, the plaintiffs filed a fresh application challenging the authenticity of the signature.
In the application, Karisma's children have sought inspection of the original alleged will. It said, "It is submitted that inspection of the original copy of the alleged will is inter alia necessary for the plaintiffs to take appropriate steps regarding the genuineness of the said document, which cannot be ascertained from the true certified copy supplied to the plaintiffs by defendant number four (Marwah)."

Samaira and Kiaan seek to inspect the will
On November 11, Sunjay Kapur’s first two children Samaira and Kiaan, from his marriage to Karisma Kapoor, moved an application before the Joint Registrar seeking to inspect the said will. However, it has been reported that Priya Kapur and co-defendant Shraddha Suri Marwah opposed the request, prompting the Registrar (Judicial) Gagandeep Jindal to issue them notices and asked them to file their replies within three weeks. The matter has now been listed for hearing on December 16.Karisma Kapoor's children allege forgery
According to the plaintiffs, the alleged will is forged and fabricated, and the signatures on it are not those of their father but allegedly forged by Priya Kapur in collusion with the attesting witnesses. The children also claimed that the document bears marks of fabrication including discrepancies in metadata, inconsistencies in the testator’s address, gender and contradictions with earlier instruments.
