SS Rajamouli's 'Varanasi' set photo turns up online; Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra shoot Ugrabhatti Cave sequence - PIC
SS Rajamouli's shoot for the upcoming film 'Varanasi' is on in full swing and a new photo from the sets gives a look at all the team has been upto. A new photo doing the rounds online, is said to be from the much-anticipated Ugrabhatti Caves sequence, first teased in Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra's character posters and trailer.

'Varanasi' set pic goes viral

The now-viral image, reportedly taken from the film’s elaborate set, features a massive blue-screen backdrop surrounded by sculpted rock formations and intricate rock pillar structures, giving fans a glimpse at the ambitious visual scale Rajamouli is preparing for the sequence. If the viral posts are true, then the sequence is said to be one of the standout moments featuring visuals of Mata Chinnamasta Devi, a fierce Hindu goddess, who represents a fierce form of self-sacrifice, transformation, and cosmic balance.

Abuout the Ugrabhatti Caves sequence

The film's teaser depicted her holding her own severed head, and offering her blood to feed her attendants. As per reports, Mahesh Babu's quest to find ancient artefacts leads him to the cave where he seeks her divine grace to defeat an ancient evil force.While the leaked image does not reveal any cast members, it offers a glimpse into the film’s massive production and set design. The sets also featured blue screens, indicating the large-scale VFX work that will go into the final film.

'Varanasi' realease date

Previously, SS Rajamouli set out to the African grasslands to reportedly capture real-time footage of the migratory animals, thus setting up the stage for another action-packed adventure sequence. The director also confessed that he used the IMAX cameras to shoot the film, just to capture the grand visual scale of certain scenes, including that of a 25-minute-long Ramayana battle scene.The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on April 7, 2027.
