'Shiney used force on me'

On June 14, 2009, the victim, then 18, alleged Ahuja gagged and raped her. She said the incident took place between 3 pm and 5 pm. She further alleged Ahuja threatened her.
The complaint said after the rape, the victim’s friend Mane - who got her the job at Ahuja’s house - was the first to see her.
Mane in her statement to the police said when the victim looked dishevelled, her lips were swollen, and clothes looked untidy when she saw her.
The victim in her statement to the police said that it was her friend Mane who had helped find the job at Ahuja’s place. Mane was the first one to meet her at 5pm on the day of the incident.
The victim told her the same morning that she was not feeling well and that both of them will leave together when the work is done. As per this request of hers Mane had gone to Ahuja’s residence.
According to the victim’s and Mane’s version, the victim opened the door when Mane rang the bell and she broke down on seeing her.
Even Mane in her statement to the police said that she did not enter Ahuja’s residence but she saw that the victim look dishevelled - her lips were swollen and even her clothes looked untidy.
Both the victim and Mane maintain that they came down in the lift and then Mane spoke to the victim in the compound - where the victim told Mane that Ahuja used force on her. When Mane asked what did she mean by force, the victims said that Ahuja had raped her.
Mane told the police in her statement that she took the victim to the house where she worked - of film director Adarsh Gupta. The victim and Mane then told Gupta’s mother Premlata Gupta about the incident.
Premlata consoled the victim and asked them to wait till her son and daughter-in-law returned home. They had gone to Jammu and Kashmir and were scheduled to return the same evening.
The victim also spoke to her family from Gupta’s residence and when Adarsh and his wife returned the victim went to the police stationwhere she narrated the same in her statement.
The victim gave the same version to the magistrate who recorded her version on oath.
However, she denied every single thing during the trial. During the cross-examination, she said she was in love with Ahuja and had felt bad about losing her job at his place.
She denied rape during the trial. Giving a twist to the case, she said during the cross-examination that she was in love with Ahuja. “I used to watch his movies.
I fell in love with him and wanted to tell him about my feelings. I was trying to talk to him on the phone and called him 15 or 16 times on June 14,” she had said.
