The film connected to the people on an unparalleled level deeply and emerged as a cultural sensation and revolved around its emotionally charged storytelling, soul-stirring music, and strong performances.

A deeply moving film directed by Guddu Dhanoa, '23rd March 1931: Shaheed’ (2002) was released at almost the same time as 'The Legend of Bhagat Singh', which served as yet another tribute to his life. Bobby Deol depicted the character of Bhagat Singh while Sunny Deol took the role of Chandrashekhar Azad, both giving power-packed performances. The movie captures essential events in Bhagat Singh’s life such as the Lahore Conspiracy Case, Assembly Bombing, and steadfast opposition towards British rule. Although it had a rather simplistic narrative, the movie successfully kept the spirit of Shaheed Diwas alive, reinforcing the sacrifices made by India’s martyrs.
