Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Kangana Ranaut: Bollywood celebrities with Y-plus security

Bollywood celebrities are often targeted with death threats and despite protection from their personal bodyguards, they often need some heavy security cover. Numerous Bollywood actors have been given Y-plus category of CRPF security by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and state government, which includes a total of 11 security personnels - six personal security officers and five armed guards at the residence. Take a look at Bollywood celebrities who have been given Y-plus cover.

Shah Rukh Khan

The Jawan actor was recently given Y-plus category cover, owing to “probable threats”. Mumbai Police has reportedly received intel that Shah Rukh has received death threats from “unknown persons” following the successful release of his two movies ‘Jawan’ and ‘Pathan’. Y-plus security of six personal security officers (PSOs) in three shifts 24x7 and five armed guards at residence have been provided to the actor.

Salman Khan

Following the numerous death threats that Salman Khan faced from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the actor was given Y-plus security this year. The actor was granted the additional security after Mumbai police assessed the threat perception for Salman Khan. Reacting to the additional security, Salman had shared that he feels scared with so many guns around him.

Kangana Ranaut

In 2020, the actress was given Y-plus security by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, following her spat with MP Sanjay Raut. Justifying her security, Kangana Ranaut had shared on X (formerly Twitter), "I am not just a Bollywood star sir, I am also a very vocal and concerned citizen, I was the target of political malice in Maharashtra, at my expense nationalists could make a government here. I also spoke about tukde gang and strongly condemned Khalistani groups. I am also a filmmaker, writer and producer and my next production Emergency involves operation Bluestar… there is evident treat to my life hence I requested for extended security."

Vivek Agnihotri

Last year, director Vivek Agnihotri was given Y-category security. This decision was made based on the threat perception to the filmmaker, post the release of his film The Kashmir Files. Reacting to the security cover, Vivek had previously shared on X, “The price one has to pay to show the Genocide of Hindus in Kashmir. In a Hindu majority country. Freedom of expression, ha! #ImprisonedInOwnCountry #Fatwa.”
