Director Farhan Akhtar sparked off a fan war between team Shah Rukh Khan and team Ranveer Singh as he officially announced plans to take the Don franchise forward. Various reports claim that Ranveer will take over the mantle of Don from Khan, thus ushering in a 'New Era'. 'No Shah Rukh Khan, No Don!' angry fans tweeted, while others stepped in to defend Singh and asked to give the star a fighting chance.
Amidst the virtual friction between the two camps, a fan pointed out that Shah Rukh got the same hate when he took over the role of Don from Amitabh Bachchan.
