Rhea Chakraborty's FIR against Sushant Singh Rajput's sister Priyanka Singh upheld by SC: Five important points about the case
The Supreme Court, on Friday, dismissed Sushant Singh Rajput's sister Priyanka Singh's petition against the FIR filed by Rhea Chakraborty. The apex court refused to quash the FIR, which was based on a complaint by Rhea, wherein the actress had alleged that Priyanka Singh provided a fake prescription to Sushant Singh Rajput, days before his untimely demise on June 14, 2020. Why did Rhea Chakrabroty file the FIR against Sushant’s sisters?
Last year, Rhea had filed a police complaint against Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister Priyanka Singh with the Mumbai police. In her six-page long complaint, the actress has stated that Sushant passed away five days after he obtained a prescription wherein “he was unlawfully prescribed psychotropic substances at the behest of his sister Priyanka”. Rhea had urged in her complaint that an FIR should be registered against Priyanka Singh, Meetu Singh, and Dr Tarun Kumar for providing forged prescription.

What are the allegations against Priyanka Singh?
Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Manshinde had shared in a statement that Priyanka Singh, Dr Tarun Kumar of Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, and others were named in the complaint in connection to offences of Forgery, NDPS Act and Tele Medicine Practice Guidelines 2020. It was alleged that they gave a bogus Medical Prescription depicting Sushant Singh Rajput as an Out Patient Department individual when he was in Mumbai on June 8, 2020, and reportedly prescribed him banned drugs.
Bombay HC verdict on FIR against Sushant Singh Rajput’s sisters
Sushant Singh Rajput's sisters had filed a petition in the Bombay High Court, seeking that the FIR filed against them be quashed. The HC decided not to cancel the FIR lodged against Priyanka Singh, for allegedly forging and fabricating a medical prescription for her brother. At the same time it was stated that the case against Meetu Singh does not stand and that there was prima facie evidence against Priyanka.

CBI to take over the investigation
While the Supreme Court dismissed Priyanka Singh’s plea, the matter will now be probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation, in tune with the earlier ruling that all matters related to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death will be investigated by the central investigating agency only. Welcoming the SC’s decision to not cancel Priyanka Singh’s plea, Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer had shared in a statement, “We are overwhelmed by the order of the Hon'ble Supreme Court. Justice Prevails in India. We bow down to the Judicial System in our Country. Truth Alone Triumphs.”
