Such tales are not only motivational but also have a strong dose of the feel-good factor, which is a necessity in the pandemic-struck world. At a time when comedies, love stories, and even action-thrillers are losing charm, sports dramas come with the promise of entertainment. Here is a lowdown on some interesting sports dramas to look forward to this year:
‘Rashmi Rocket’
Taapsee Pannu always brings something new to the table. After ‘Thappad’ last year, the actress is now all set to impress with her upcoming sports drama, ‘Rashmi Rocket’. She plays a sprinter from Kutch in the Akarsh Khurana-directorial and has been inspired by the lives of several athletes. Actors Priyanshu Painyuli and Abhishek Banerjee are also a part of the film. A release date is yet to be announced.

‘Jersey’
After the success of ‘Kabir Singh’, which was the official Hindi remake of the Telugu film, ‘Arjun Reddy’, Shahid is all set with yet another remake ‘Jersey’. In the film, the actor will essay the role of a cricketer who revives his career for his son. Apart from him, the sports drama will also feature Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur in key roles.

‘’83’
Kabir Khan’s sports biopic '’83’ features Ranveer Singh as Indian skipper Kapil Dev, who led India to the finishing line during the 1983 Cricket World Cup.
The film will chronicle the historic win and also features Saqib Saleem, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Pankaj Tripathi and others in key roles. Deepika Padukone, who is also co-producing the film, will play the role of Kapil's wife Romi Dev.

‘Toofan’
After the impressive ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, Farhan Akhtar is all set to take to the boxing ring with ‘Toofan’. Directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, the movie is the gripping story of a national-level boxer and also features Mrunal Thakur, Paresh Rawal and Isha Talwar in key roles.

‘Saina’
Parineeti Chopra will be seen essaying the role of ace badminton player Saina Nehwal in the upcoming biopic. While the Amol Gupte-directorial was earlier supposed to star Shraddha Kapoor, Pari has impressed with her look and body language in the pics she posted from the sets.
