Ram Gopal Varma announces his decision to join politics; to contest Lok Sabha election from Pithapuram in AP - See post

Today, Ram Gopal Varma surprised many by revealing his decision to venture into politics ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Taking to his micro-blogging handle, he wrote, 'SUDDEN DECISION..Am HAPPY to inform that I am CONTESTING from PITHAPURAM'. The filmmaker refrained from sharing more details.

Ram Gopal Varma's announcement coincided with the declaration from the Telugu Desam Party-Bharatiya Janata Party-Jana Sena Party (JSP) alliance, which revealed that Tollywood actor and JSP chief Pawan Kalyan would contest from the Pithapuram seat.



Last year, there was controversy surrounding Ram Gopal Varma's movie Vyooham, which delves into the political landscape of Andhra Pradesh. Following this, some local leaders called for his removal from the state. The film revolves around the events leading up to the demise of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and features actors Manasa Radhakrishnan, Ajmal Ameer, and Surabhi Prabhavathi.




Meanwhile, a photo of RGV with Amitabh Bachchan recently sparked speculations about a potential collaboration. However, there is no official announcement as yet.
