It may have been his ‘serial kisser’ tag that catapulted Emraan Hashmi to instant fame, but it was Emraan playing the anti-hero in many of his hits that brought out his acting prowess. “Murder”, “Jannat” and “Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai” saw the actor portray negative shades and still make his mark. And in the Mukesh Bhatt and Mahesh Bhatt’s Vishesh Films production, “Crook: It’s Good To Be Bad” that releases today, Emraan again plays a devious character.
A cheat and a liar, he relocates to Australia using a fake identity. As the tag line, ‘It’s good to be bad’, suggests, Emraan’s character can stoop to any length to achieve his ambition. Be it right or wrong, for him, the path that leads to his destination is the correct one. “In life, as in movies, how badly you want something will decide whether you win or lose. I have the resolve and the drive to make it to the top of the heap,” says Emraan.
Dealing with racism faced by Indians in Australia, “Crook: It’s Good To Be Bad” may seem to be a serious film, but it’s actually an entertainer with all the ingredients – romance, action, comedy and a thrilling sound track. Racism, which forms the backdrop, has been handled delicately by director Mohit Suri. And though Emraan may have taken a sabbatical from kissing recently, this movie sees him back in action, sharing steamy scenes with some blonde babes!
