It was a moment of immense pride for the whole of India when MM Keeravaani bagged honours for his song 'Naatu Naatu' from SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' at the prestigious Golden Globe Awards 2023.

While congratulatory messages and wishes have been pouring in for the ace musician from all sides, ETimes approached Manisha Koirala for her reaction. The actress has worked with Keeravaani earlier in her film, 'Criminal'. Showering praise on the entire team, Manisha said, "I am so so proud of them. It is a well deserved win!"

Keeravaani, who works across film industries in India, made his debut in 1990 with the Telugu film 'Manasu Mamatha'. But he first tasted success with Ram Gopal Varma’s Telugu blockbuster film 'Kshana Kshanam' a year later.

However, it was Mahesh Bhatt who got Keeravaani to Bollywood. The first Hindi film which he scored for was 'Criminal'. The love ballad 'Tum Mile Dil Khile' featuring Nagarjuna and Manisha Koirala became an instant classic.

'RRR' bagged two nods, for best picture non-English and best original song - motion picture. Creating history and bringing home the prestigious Golden Globe, ‘RRR’ bagged the Best Song - Motion Picture honour. With this win, 'Naatu Naatu' has emerged as the first Asian song to bag this award. 'Naatu Naatu' has been choreographed by Prem Rakshith, with MM Keeravaani being the music director and lyrics penned by Chandrabose.

‘RRR’ featured Ram Charan and Jr NTR in the role of Indian revolutionaries Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. The fictional story was set in pre-Independence times. The film also starred Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in pivotal roles and did record-breaking collections at the box office.
