Madhoo opened up about her first meeting with
Sridevi and recalled how the brief moment stayed with her for years. The actor said she was, and still is, one of Sridevi’s biggest fans. She remembered watching Sridevi’s films across languages and admiring her screen presence long before she entered the
film industry herself. Madhoo also spoke about the time when her debut film 'Phool Aur Kaante' released around the same period as Sridevi’s 'Lamhe', a phase that left her overwhelmed.
Madhoo recalls first meeting with Sridevi
In an interaction with IANS, Madhoo spoke about her admiration for Sridevi and called herself one of her biggest fans. She said, “What happened with me, I was and still am Shreeji's biggest fan. I feel that there is no actor like Shreedevi.”
Madhoo added that she followed Sridevi’s work closely. She watched her Tamil films and major Hindi films too. She said, “And I have watched all her films, her Tamil films, her Hindi debut, Himmatwala, and Chandni, Chalbaaz.”
The actor said her respect for Sridevi came from years of watching her performances. Madhoo also recalled that Sridevi’s films were released at a time when her own films were also coming out. She said, “I am the biggest fan. And her films were releasing on time. And my films were releasing with her.”
Madhoo on Sridevi, Saroj Khan and 'Phool Aur Kaante'
Madhoo then shared that she first met Sridevi at Satyam Dance Hall. Sridevi was rehearsing for a song there. Around the same time, Saroj Khan was rehearsing a song with Madhoo for 'Phool Aur Kaante'.
She recalled, “She was also rehearsing for some song in Satyam Dance Hall. And Sarojji also rehearsed with me in Satyam Dance Hall for Phoolar Kante song.”
Madhoo said Saroj Khan introduced her to Sridevi during that rehearsal. She shared, “And I had a chance to meet Sriji for the first time. And Saroj Khan ji introduced me, this is Madhu. And her first film, this is her debut and we are rehearsing.”
She remembered Sridevi’s simple reaction and said, “And Sriji went, hmm.” Soon after, 'Lamhe' and 'Phool Aur Kaante' released. Madhoo said the moment made her nervous because she admired Sridevi deeply.
She recalled thinking, “I thought, where did she come from, what is happening. I was in a hiding.”
