Bollywood saw a whole lot of ups and downs this week. From Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranvir Shorey filing for divorce to Ajay Devgn announcing ‘Kaithi’ remake and Richa-Ali applying for marriage registration – there were a lot of developments and announcements from B-town. Here’s taking a look at the top five newsmakers of Bollywood, who hit headlines for different reasons.

Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranvir Shorey tied the knot in 2010 but five years later there rumours were rife that the couple’s relationship had hit a rough patch. This week the couple filed for divorce by mutual consent. Konkona and Ranvir reportedly underwent counseling but decided to part ways and the official confirmation of their divorce will come through in the next six months. Reports suggest that the couple have been given joint custody of their six-year-old son Haroon.

While one couple parted ways, another one decided to take the plunge. Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal applied for marriage registration at the Bandra Family Court. An official statement from the couple read, “Currently, only the date for the registration has been taken. By process, the window that is valid is for 3 months from the date that has been allotted. The couple are working towards an official registration in the last week of April post which the celebrations will follow. All we can say at the moment is that it’s a happy occasion and all the parties involved are elated.”

Ajay Devgn made a massive announcement this week as he made it official on Twitter that he will star in the Hindi remake of Tamil film ‘Kaithi’. Also declaring the film’s release date Ajay wrote, “Yes, I’m doing the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Kaithi. Releases on February 12, 2021.” ‘Kaithi’ is an action-thriller that was directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film had hit the screens in October 2019 and was a huge success.

Taapsee Pannu starrer ‘Thappad’ hit the screens last Friday and trolls soon targeted the film, trending #BoycottThappad on Twitter. A few internet users called a ban over the film because of the leading lady’s involvement in an anti-CAA protest. Taapsee made an appearance at a peaceful protest at Carter Road in Mumbai, supporting students of Jawaharlal Nehru University in January, who were attacked by masked mob in January. Twitter trolls compared her move to that of Deepika Padukone, who stood in solidarity with the students in Delhi.

Tiger Shroff surprised his fans with a big announcement this week. The actor shared posters of ‘Heropanti 2’ and wrote, “This one is so special to me. Blessed and grateful to be carrying forward another franchise with my mentor sajid sir.” Tiger had marked his debut in Bollywood with 'Heropanti', wherein he romanced Kriti Sanon. While the announcement received a positive response from the actor’s fans, a few internet users pointed out that the poster was similar to that of Hollywood film ‘John Wick 2’.
