Kalki Koechlin recalls being sidelined in her first marriage with Anurag Kashyap: 'My partner Guy Hershberg is so chilled out'
Kalki Koechlin, who was last seen in the OTT film ‘Kho Gaye Hum Kahan’ in 2023, recently shared her views on handling intimacy after having a child and getting over an ex. Koechlin also discussed her early experiences with filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, when she was the less well-known person.
During an interview with Hauterrfly, Kalki was asked if a woman's achievement could pose a threat to a man. To this, the actress shared, “Obviously, almost always. I think when he’s successful it’s easier, but it’s very rare to find a man who is comfortable with you travelling a lot, being busy, being selfied while he is sidelined.”
Then Koechlin thought what her reaction might be if the roles were reversed. She stated, “I actually was in that position in my first marriage. In the start, I was a nobody and Anurag Kashyap was so big and I was always on the sidelines and it’s not easy.”
She continued by saying, “I was a lot younger back then and I was finding it difficult. I always wanted to run away with him to go to inaccessible places. But now, I think I’ve accepted that it’s a part of life and now I’ve become very private about my life, earlier I was like an open book and very innocent on how the media functions.”
Kalki is now married to Guy Hershberg. They welcomed their daughter Sappho in 2020 and currently reside in Goa. She further talked about her current partner and revealed that she commend her partner for his calm demeanor, which is one of the reasons she fell for him.
When they first met, he was unaware of her identity due to being from another country, creating a clean slate for their relationship. He tends to be quite defensive; for instance, one day when his cousin visited and mentioned that she was a Bollywood actress, showing him her Instagram profile, he reacted by asking to put it away, calling it vulgar. He emphasized that such aspects are not the reasons for his affection towards her. Even with selfies today, he remains patient and relaxed.
On the work front, Kalki Koechlin will be next seen in director Vishnuvardhan’s Tamil film 'Nesippaya'. The actress will portray the character of a Portugal-based lawyer named Indira.
