Happy Birthday Yami Gautam: Revisiting the best performances of the actor

Making her foray into movies after being a well-known model, actor Yami Gautam has come a long way in her career. Mostly known for her girl next door roles, Yami has always been consistent with her performances, breathing life into each character she plays. As the Himachali beauty turns 34 today, we revisit 5 of her most refreshing roles on screen

2/6

Vicky Donor - 2012

Yami Gautam started off as a breath of fresh air in her maiden Bollywood movie, Vicky Donor, directed by Shoojit Sircar. As the quintessential, prim and proper girl Bengali girl Ashima, who falls in love with the jovial, fun loving Punjabi boy Vicky, Yami easily slid into her character. As their story progresses, the duo get married and attempt to have kids, however Vicky's secret threatens to upend their marital bliss.

3/6

Kaabil - 2017

Supriya and Rohan are a visually impaired couple, who have created their own perfect world, even with their imperfections. However, their dreams are soon upended by a rude shock when Supriya is raped and later dies by suicide. Angered, Rohan decides to seek revenge, even with his disability making the road ahead tougher. Directed by Sanjay Gupta and co-starring Hrithik Roshan, the movie was praised for the performances of the lead cast.

4/6

Uri: The Surgical Strike - 2019

In Uri, Yami played an undercover RAW agent Jasmine d' Almeida, who comes in the life of Major Vihaan Singh Shergill as his mother's caretaker, when the latter is diagnosed with Stage VI Alzheimer's. It later turns out that Jasmine was in fact sent to provide security to Major Vihaan. Co-starring Vicky Kaushal and directed by Yami's now husband Aditya Dhar, Uri was one of the biggest blockbusters of the year.

5/6

Bala - 2019

Yami played Pari Mishra in this Amar Kaushik directed flick that co-starred Bhumi Pednekar and Ayushmann Khurrana. As a content creator who makes videos, the quintessentially beautiful Pari falls in love with Bala, unaware of the fact that he is using a wig to hide his receding hairline. The two soon marry but their joy is short lived as Pari learns the truth and faces the biggest dilemma of her life.

A Thursday - 2022

Breaking from the conventional "girl next door image", Yami plays the affable on the outside school teacher Naina, who is hiding a huge secret within her. Mayhem ensues when she takes 16 children hostage on a Thursday afternoon. She soon presents a list of unusual demands and failing to fulfil those will result in killing of the children, one by one. However, there is more than what meets the eye. Directed by Behzad Khambata, the movie was appreciated for its nail biting climax.
