Aryan Khan got a lot of love for his debut series as a director, 'The B***ds of Bollywood'. Among those who have praised his work is actor
Gautami Kapoor, who plays a key role in the show. Sharing her experience, Gautami highlighted Aryan’s sharp vision, confidence, and hands-on involvement, saying his level of maturity was evident right from the start.
Gautami recalled meeting Aryan for the first time during the script reading session. She admitted she was closely watching him, curious about how he would navigate a room filled with experienced actors. In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, she said, “During the reading of the show, that was the first time I met Aryan. We were 25 actors in a room. He came in, started the reading, and the clarity he had for each and every character, big or small, was staggering. My mouth was open. I was like, ‘Oh my God, at 24-25, he has this kind of clarity and maturity about a project that he has written and is going to direct."
According to Gautami, Aryan’s grasp over the narrative and characters was unmistakable, leaving no room for doubt about his control over the project.
She also addressed rumours suggesting that Aryan may have had help from ghost directors, dismissing such speculation outright. “A lot of people asked, ‘Has Aryan directed it himself or has someone ghost-directed it?’ We shot for 20 hours. The way he has directed it, hats off to him. Let me be clear, each and everything done in the show is done by Aryan,” Gautami stated.
She further revealed that Aryan often went beyond verbal instructions, physically demonstrating scenes for the cast. “So many of the stunts, he used to do it and show the actors,” she added.
Gautami also spoke about Aryan’s uncompromising approach to quality, noting that multiple takes were standard practice on set. No one was spared, regardless of seniority.
“Aryan is a stickler for perfection. So it was never one or two takes, it was always 10 to 15 takes. We were all at it, whether it was Bobby Deol, Manoj Bawa, or anyone else,” she shared, describing the process as intense yet fulfilling.
Gautami also spoke about her experience working with Bobby Deol and how the actor reacted to Aryan’s perfectionist approach. She shared, “He is calm and reserved person. We had a lot of scenes together, but he never made me feel like ‘I am the Lord Bobby Deol’, nothing like that, he was very normal. He used to get as irritated… Aryan is a stickler for perfection, so it was never 1-2 takes, it was always 10-15 takes. We were all at it, whether it was Bobby Deol, Manoj Bawa, or anyone.”
Reflecting on Aryan’s upbringing, Gautami credited Shah Rukh Khan for instilling strong values in his son and shared a personal anecdote that left a deep impression on her family.
“He is such a well-brought-up child. Every time I go to the Red Chillies office and Aryan is there, he would hug me and drop me to the lift,” she said.
She also recalled a moment from a screening of the show’s first two episodes, when Shah Rukh personally accompanied her daughter to the lift after she had to leave early. “There was no need for him to do all that, he is Shah Rukh Khan. But he still got up, spoke to her about her studies, and walked her all the way. My daughter was trembling. There is so much to learn from these people,” Gautami concluded.
