Gajraj Rao: Playing a grey character was a blessing in disguise

released last year, will be seen playing a corrupt, grey politician in

Lootcase

. The film, crafted by ad filmmaker Rajesh Krishnan and co-written by Kapil Sawant, revolves around MLA Patil’s stolen suitcase. Gajraj, who plays the MLA, feels the character is a clear departure from his good-father-good-son-good-husband character Mr Kaushik in Amit Sharma’s Badhaai Ho.

Talking about it, he told us, “Today, I feel lucky that I can try something different from what I have done before.I felt this is the right time to make some fun choices. Playing MLA Patil was a blessing in disguise because this is my chance to display my ability to play such a drastically different role. When my friends Rajesh and Kapil narrated this film to me, I was very happy because the character had so much to do. He’s a kingmaker, someone who pulls strings everywhere and controls things. His suitcase with some important things gets misplaced which leads to chaos. The film is in a Sai Paranjpe-meets-Quentin Tarantino space. Why would I say no this?”
