Looking at 2026’s MOST EXPENSIVE films in Bollywood

For Bollywood, 2026 seems to be a grand year. Not just the larger-than-life expectations, but also the budget used to make these films. From the mythological spectacle to high-action thriller, films like ‘Ramayana’ and ‘Toxic’ are surely creating a buzz, and their extravagant appeal is strong. Here’s a look at Bollywood’s most expensive films of 2026.

2/6

‘Ramayana’

Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’ is being developed as an ambitious, two-part, live-action adaptation of the ancient epic. While the buzz around its exact budget is unknown, as per reports, it falls under a wide range of Rs 1,000 crores to Rs 4,000 crore.
The film is going to be a VFX-heavy spectacle and is scheduled to release in Diwali 2026 and 2027 in two parts. The first part is expected to cover Lord Ram’s early life, his wedding to Sita, their exile of 14 years, and conclude with Sita’s kidnapping by Ravan

3/6

'Dhurandhar 2'

After ‘Dhurandhar’s’ record-breaking success, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has naturally become one of the most anticipated movies of 2026. Expected to be a major commercial player, the film is releasing March 19. According to Wikipedia, the budget for 'Dhurandhar' was around Rs. 250 to Rs.300 crore.
The plot of ‘Dhurandhar 2’ picks up immediately after the first film, following undercover Indian intelligence agent Hamza Ali Mazhari (played by Ranveer Singh), who is now deeply embedded within Pakistan's criminal and political underworld. The sequel focuses heavily on the showdown between Hamza and the ISI chief, Major Iqbal (played by Arjun Rampal), who becomes the primary adversary.

4/6

'Toxic'

Rocking star Yash starrer ‘Toxic’ is releasing on March 19. As per a previous report from TOI, the budget for this Indian period gangster film is Rs 500 crore. In ‘Toxic,’ Yash plays the lead role in a dual capacity as "Raya." The film also boasts an ensemble cast including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film is being described as a "Fairytale for Grown-ups.” The story unfolds in the coastal paradise of Goa. It is a gritty, violent tale of a drug cartel, where a powerful figure (Yash) builds an empire through blood, fear, and betrayal in the 1940s–1970s.

5/6

'King'

Shahrukh Khan’s upcoming action-thriller is made on a Rs 350 crore budget as per Financial Express. The initial budget was Rs 150 crores only, but the script had scope to go bigger and better, reports Bollywood Hungama.
In ‘King,’ Shah Rukh Khan returns in a "darker, edgier," and "menacing" role, portraying an underworld gangster who takes his protégé (played by Suhana Khan) under his wing. The ensemble cast also includes Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee and others.

6/6

'Love and War'

As per the latest report from Sacnilk, ‘Love and War’ is now shot up to a staggering 425 crore, where it was originally planned for 350 crore. The spike in cost is said to be the result of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “quest for perfection.”
‘Love and War’ stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal.
The film is a period romance set against the backdrop of war and focuses on an intense love triangle, dealing with themes of passion, conflict, and drama.
