Films around Veer Savarkar

Veer Savarkar is one of controversial figures of Indian freedom movement. He advocated complete Indian independence by revolutionary means. There have been quite a few films made around his life, let's take a look at them.

Priyadarshan's Kaalapani was amongst the first film to mention Veer Savarkar. The film spoke about Indian freedom fighters who had been incarcerated in Andaman and Nicobar islands by the British Raj. Annu played the role of Savarkar.

​Veer Savarkar released in 2001 was the first biopic made on him by famous musician Sudhir Phadke under Savarkar Darshan Prathisthan. Shailendra Gaur played Savarkar in the film which was directed by Ved Rahi.

​What about Savarkar ? is about Abhiman Marathe, an MNC executive, who takes a stand against a corrupt minister disrespecting Veer Savarkar. With support from friends, he resigns and uses social media to garner nationwide support. His journey begins in Mumbai and culminates in New Delhi, fighting for Savarkar's honor.

Swatantra Veer Savarkar is Randeep Hooda's re-telling of Veer Savarkar's journey for today's generation. He not only plays the lead but is also the director of the film with famous actress Ankita Lokhande playing his wife and Rajesh Khera playing Mahatma Gandhi.
