Fatima Sana Shaikh has chosen to be a part of some great projects, ever since she got accolades for for her role in 'Dangal'. But Fatima is still remembered as the child artist who was a part of the iconic Chachi 420. The actress was last seen in 'Dhak Dhak' which stars Dia Mirza, Ratna Pathak Shah and Sanjana Sanghi. The film is produced by Taapsee Pannu.
Not many know that Fatima has epilepsy and suffers seizures sometimes. Recently her co-star Dia Mirza had disclosed that Fatima had a seizure on the sets of 'Dhak Dhak'. Reacting to it, Fatima said during a conversation with Hindustan Times, that she's recovering and is much better today but it's not a big event for her because she lives with it. But it's difficult for other people to see it because they care about her. Not many people have seen it and for them it can be traumatic. Fatima also said that she's touched that Dia cared because many people don't have that awareness. Everyone on the sets was supportive and Fatima always informs everyone that she's working with that she might get an episode and may need a break.
The actress also spoke about the stereotypes around it and how awareness should be created. For working class people, it's difficult to see one having a seizure at work. There's a stigma attached to it. People don't get married, they don't allow babies to come near you. Kids with epilepsy also don't get education because nobody wants to take thier responsibilty. Fatima added that many people think that seizures are due to God or some 'bhoot-pret (ghosts or demons). However, it's different from her because she's an actor. Had she been a technician, it would have been more challenging for them. The more awareness one creates, the more it will be normalised.
Fatima got a seizure on the sets of 'Dhak Dhak' because they were working for long hours without any break. But had she taken a break, the shoot wouldn't have finished.
Fatima was also praise for her co-stars Ratna Dia and Sanjana. She added that age doesn't matter. Women can connect irrespective of age and she felt the biggest connection with Ratna and Dia, mostly with Dia.
