‘Dostana 2’ to ‘Hungama 2’: 7 Bollywood sequels to look forward in 2021

Sequels have a way of charming the audience back to the theatres, and not just for nostalgia's sake. There's a certain novelty in continuing a story that started out as a one-film idea. While now some films are planned as a franchise, more often than not, it is the success of a film that prompts the makers into spinning another one with the same characters or along the same lines. While some such experiments fall flat on their faces, others result in even better films than the first one. The year 2021 will see a lot of sequels release in theatres and it might just be the need of the hour. Take a look:

Badhaai Do

The 2018 release Badhaai Ho, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Neena Gupta, Sanya Malhotra and Gajraj Rao turned out to be a hit because of its unconventional storyline. The sequel ‘Badhaai Do’ will feature Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles and will be based on a similar theme. Shoot for the film is currently underway in Dehradun and it is expected to release this year itself.

Dostana 2

Back in 2008, Tarun Mansukhani’s ‘Dostana’ starring Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan, had the audience doubling over in laughter with it’s fresh take on life, love and relationships. Satyameva Jayate 2

John Abraham who played patriot Virendra Rathod in Satyameva Jayate is all set to reprise his role in the sequel. Fans have great expectations from the sequel to the original that had wooed the box office. The film shoot has been on in full swing in Lucknow. Helmed by Milap Zaveri, Satyameva Jayate 2 also features Divya Kumar Khosla, and is all set to release on May 12, 2021.

Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan's psychological-thriller ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ took everyone by a surprise with its storyline.
