Advait Chandan has parted ways with Dharma Productions' much-awaited sequel ‘Dostana 2’. The director had been on board to helm the project and had reportedly spent around seven months working on its development before eventually deciding to step away.
Advait Chandan's exit from 'Dostana 2' was amicable
As reported by Variety India, the split came down to creative differences; Chandan's vision for the film failed to match the direction the producers had in mind. The parting, however, has been on good terms, with no bad blood between the two sides beyond a simple difference in creative outlook.
'Dostana 2' has had a long and troubled journey
Chandan's exit is just the latest twist in what has been a long and rocky journey for ‘Dostana 2’, a project that has gone through several reinventions since it was first announced. The sequel to the 2008 blockbuster ‘Dostana’ was initially unveiled in 2019 with Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor and Lakshya set to star, and Collin D'Cunha lined up to make his feature directorial debut. However, the project was eventually shelved.
