Chris Rock, Amrita Rao, Gauahar Khan: When celebs got slapped in public

Controversies and celebrities go hand-in-hand, there’s no doubt. While catfights and virtual spats have been common among the actors, it’s the embarrassing slapping moments caught on camera that create a storm among the fans. From Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars 2022 to Esha Deol slapping Amrita Rao, to Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu’s infamous fight, take a look at embarrassing situations between stars in public.

Chris Rock and Will Smith became the highlight of the Oscars 2022 after the former cracked a joke about Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith in reference to ‘G.I. Jane’. To this, Smith walked up to the stage and slapped Chris Rock which appeared to be a part of a scripted joke. However, things took a turn when Smith went back to his seat and shouted, “Keep my wife's name out of your fu****g mouth." The uncensored video of the event has now gone viral on the internet.

In 2014, Gauahar Khan had a breakdown on screen when she was slapped by a man from the audience while shooting for a reality show. While the man was later booked for molestation and assault charges, allegedly he hit the actress for her skimpy dress and dance numbers.

Amrita Rao hit headlines when her co-star Esha Deol didn’t hesitate to slap her on the sets of their 2006 film ‘Pyare Mohan’. While reports suggested that something went bitter between the divas after Amrita commented on Hema Malini’s daughter, Esha later told TOI, “Yes, I slapped Amrita. One day after pack-up, she abused me in front of my director, Indra Kumar and my cameraman and I thought that was totally out of line. To protect my self-respect and dignity, in the heat of the moment, I slapped her. I have no regrets because she totally deserved it for her behaviour towards me at that point in time. I just stood up for myself and my dignity."

Back in 2001, it was Kareena Kapoor and Bipasha Basu’s rivalry that grabbed eyeballs. It all happened so on the sets of ‘Ajnabee’ when Bebo’s designer gave a helping hand to Bipasha, allegedly without her consent. It’s believed that the incident led to a nasty catfight with Kareena calling Bipasha s ‘Kaali billi’ and even allegedly slapping her. Talking about it later, Bipasha cleared the air and said that ‘a mountain out of a molehill’ has been made. She also added that she did not want to work with Kareena in future, and got everyone thinking what must be the reason!

All hell broke loose after Karan Singh Grover was slapped hard by his former wife Jennifer Winget on the sets of their TV show. Allegedly, it was Jennifer who found out about Karan’s alleged affair and had an outburst in front of the crew members. While they continued to shoot separately after the incident, later they parted ways and are currently happy with their lives.
