Michael Douglas, who arrived in Goa with Catherine Zeta-Jones and their son Dylan to attend IFFI, will be honoured with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) during the closing ceremony.
Speaking about the award, Michael said, "When I was in university in California, I was taking a film course, and one of the directors I studied was Satyajit Ray.

This was about 1963-64. If I remember correctly, it was Pather Panchali, which was the first film, and then Charulata. While coming here, I was thinking about it. He was not just a director but a writer, a poet, and a musician too. His films were not heroic or on a grand scale but about the texture and left me with an impression. Now to win this award, which is in honour of Satyajit Ray, I feel it is well named." At the Cannes Film Festival this year, he was awarded a lifetime achievement Honorary Palme d’or.
Catherine Zeta Jones, who is accompanying him, said that an Indian doctor saved her life, so coming to India always feels like coming home. She said, "I have always been a Bollywood fan, and I always dreamed that the British film industry would do a Bollywood-type film so I can be cast in it. When my kids were small, I had shown them Om Shanti Om, which is one of my favorite movies. And when Dylan's (who is accompanying them on tour) friends would come over, he would ask them, 'Do you want to see a film from India?"

She added, "I would love to do some part in a film in Bollywood. In fact, one of my favorite movies, which is not a Bollywood film, is The Lunchbox. I came across this film on an international flight, and I watched it twice back-to-back back. I called my agents, and I met Ritesh Batra, and I am still waiting for him to write The Lunchbox II for me."
