‘Brahmastra’, ‘Adipurush’, ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’: Films being made on massive budgets

Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’ is one of the biggest and most awaited films of the year. The film is larger than life and is being made on a massive budget. Apart from this, there are many other upcoming films which boast not only big budgets but also great VFX works and a huge star cast. From Om Raut’s ‘Adipurush’ to Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’, take a look at some upcoming expensive movies.

‘Brahmastra’

After making fans wait for a long time, Ayan Mukerji is finally ready with his magnum opus. The film will introduce us to India’s first original universe – the Astra universe. It is being made on a massive budget of Rs 300 crore. ‘Brahmastra’ is a three-part fantasy epic which will bring together Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt on screen for the first time. Apart from them, it also features actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Mouni Roy in key roles. The makers of the movie have also roped in Shah Rukh Khan for a special cameo in the film. It is slated to hit the theatres on September 9, 2022.

‘Tiger 3’

After the super success of ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’, Salman Khan is all set with the third instalment of the popular franchise. The action spy thriller film also stars Katrina Kaif in the female lead. The makers have also roped in Emraan Hashmi in the role of an antagonist for the first time. It is being made on a budget of Rs 35o crore. Reports are rife that the film will feature Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’ character in a special cameo. However, there is no official confirmation of the same.

‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’

Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda’s classic movie ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ is being remade with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in the lead roles. This is the first time the Khiladi star will be sharing the screen space with the action star. Being directed by none other than Ali Abbas Zafar, the movie is being made on a whopping budget of Rs 300 crore.

‘Adipurush’

Director Om Raut impressed one and all with his film, ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’. The film made some record-breaking business at the box office. Now, he is all set to recreate the magic of Ramayana on screen with Prabhas and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles of Lord Rama and Sita. The filmmaker has also roped in Saif Ali Khan in the role of Ravana. Actor Sunny Singh will play the role of Laxman in the mythological drama. It is being made on a massive budget of Rs 400 crore.

‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’

After giving films like, ‘Guru’ and ‘Raavan’ to the audience together, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Mani Ratnam are reuniting for their next titled, ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’, which is a period drama. The actress will be seen playing a double role for the first time in the upcoming historical drama. The movie also stars actors like Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Jayaram, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Vikram Prabhu. The film has music by AR Rahman. It is being made on a whopping budget or Rs 500 crore.
