Bollywood’s August 2025 lineup — 'Dhadak,' 'Son Of Sardaar 2' and more movies to look forward to

While the stories this month are undoubtedly entertaining, they also present us with challenges. This August lineup blends energy and memory with themes of political awakenings and forbidden love, giving way to nostalgic reboots. These movies demand our attention; they are not merely releases. Each one is a reflection, a moment, and a mood.

2/7

'Dhadak 2' — August 1

Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi give life to this spiritual sequel to 'Dhadak,' inspired by 'Pariyerum Perumal.' Set in Madhya Pradesh, Neelesh - Siddhant is a Dalit law student experiencing caste-based discrimination on the campus. Vidhi - Triptii, an upper-caste girl with a rebellious streak, defies her family and society to stand beside him. Directed by Shazia Iqbal, the film is a bruised valentine to young love in a fractured world — raw, poetic, and politically charged.

3/7

'Son of Sardaar 2' — August 1

Ajay Devgn is back as Jassi Randhawa in this lively action-comedy centered around a village Mango Festival. When a rare golden mango becomes the coveted prize in a wild chase, childhood rivalries, mafia antics, and mistaken identities all come into play. Mrunal Thakur takes on the role of Rabia, a schoolteacher with her own secrets, while Sanjay Dutt and Ravi Kishan bring their own flair to the Punjabi chaos.

4/7

'Ajey: The Untold Story of a Yogi' — August 1

Anant Joshi takes on the role of Ajay Singh Bisht, a young man from the serene Himalayas who evolves into Yogi Adityanath — a monk, a reformer, and a significant political figure. Directed by Ravindra Gautam and based on Shantanu Gupta’s book, The Monk Who Became Chief Minister, the film explores his journey of spiritual awakening, ideological growth, and ascent to power. Paresh Rawal portrays Mahant Avaidyanath, the guiding mentor who helps steer him on this transformative path.

5/7

'War 2' — August 14

Hrithik Roshan’s character, Kabir, has gone off the rails. Jr NTR’s Vikram stands as India’s most lethal agent. Under the direction of Ayan Mukerji, this sixth chapter in YRF’s Spy Universe takes us on a thrilling journey filled with clashing ideologies, revenge, and treachery. Kiara Advani steps into the role of Kavya, a cryptographer torn between her loyalty and her heart.

6/7

'Param Sundari' — 29 August

Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra are front and center in this warm love tale set in the eye-catching water world of Kerala. The tale tracks Param, a tech-smart man from Delhi, who gets pulled into Sundari, a skilled classic dancer from an old-style South Indian home. Tushar Jalota directs this movie, mixing the feel of Mani Ratnam's love stories with today’s life mess, where class, way of life, and pull of heart all mix up.

7/7

'Coolie' — August 14

Rajinikanth takes center stage in this thrilling pan-India action drama as Deva, a former gang leader grappling with his troubled past. He tries to get his old team back with old gold watches, but soon everything goes wild. This leads to the start of a new bad group in power. Lokesh Kanagaraj made this film, and it has a big list of stars like Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Shruti Haasan, and Upendra. They tell a grand tale that talks of fixing wrongs, fighting back, and wild confusion.
