1/5

Comedy with heart

Kamal Haasan’s Chachi 420 (1997) was inspired by Mrs Doubtfire (1993). The tale of a father disguising himself as a woman to stay near his daughter was filled with humour, sentiment, and culture. Haasan’s comic timing and Tabu’s charm made it a memorable family entertainer.

2/5

Heist drama brilliance

Aankhen (2002) echoed Blind Date (1967) and heist thrillers, with Amitabh Bachchan leading a daring plan using blind men to rob a bank. The unique twist blended suspense, social commentary, and gripping performances, proving Bollywood could craft global thrillers with an Indian emotional core.

3/5

Suspenseful gameplan

Game (2011) borrowed from Murder by Death and And Then There Were None. Abhishek Bachchan, Kangana Ranaut, and others played suspects in a twisted murder mystery. The stylish narrative, international locations, and Bollywood’s dramatic edge gave the classic whodunit a glamorous desi reinvention.

4/5

Revenge with passion

Aamir Khan’s Ghajini (2008), inspired by Memento (2000), brought the concept of short-term memory loss into Bollywood storytelling. With action, romance, and unforgettable music, the film turned Nolan’s psychological thriller into an emotional revenge saga that resonated deeply with Indian audiences.

5/5

Stylish crime saga

Kaante (2002), heavily inspired by Reservoir Dogs (1992), reimagined Tarantino’s cult crime drama with Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, and Suniel Shetty. Set in Los Angeles, it blended slick Bollywood action, camaraderie, betrayal, and pulsating music, delivering one of the most stylish heist thrillers of Indian cinema.
