Bollywood frenemies you didn’t know about

1/5

Deepika Padukone & Anushka Sharma

They started out around the same time, dated the same guy (yes, Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor were both in the mix), and often found themselves compared in the media. Though both actresses have been polite in public, insiders claim there’s always been an undercurrent of competitiveness. Anushka once called out a magazine for claiming she was insecure about Deepika, stating, “I’m not that kind of a person.” While they’ve never had a full-blown fallout, they’ve never exactly been BFFs either.

2/5

Kangana Ranaut & Taapsee Pannu

This one’s no secret. What started as industry admiration turned into a full-blown Twitter war. Kangana called Taapsee a “B-grade actress” and accused her of being a “needy outsider.” Taapsee, unfazed, clapped back with her usual wit, leading to one of Bollywood’s most public frenemy feuds. Their online spats made more headlines than some films did that year!

3/5

Karan Johar & Kajol

Once inseparable, Karan Johar and Kajol had a shocking falling out after a nearly two-decade-long friendship. The rift happened around the time of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay, when their respective films clashed at the box office. Karan even revealed in his autobiography that Kajol “killed every bit of emotion” he had for her. Although they eventually patched up, the break showed that even the strongest bonds in Bollywood can get shaken.

4/5

Kareena Kapoor Khan & Priyanka Chopra Jonas

From swapping boyfriends (hello, Shahid Kapoor!) to indirect shade in interviews, Kareena and Priyanka’s dynamic has been anything but boring. Kareena once questioned Priyanka’s accent on Koffee with Karan, to which Priyanka cheekily replied that she got it from the same place Kareena’s ex did. While they’ve maintained a cordial tone lately, their frenemy status has been a constant in B-town gossip circles.

5/5

Salman Khan & Shah Rukh Khan

Bollywood’s biggest bromance turned bitter after their infamous fight at Katrina Kaif’s birthday party in 2008. For years, Salman and SRK avoided each other, took subtle digs in interviews, and skipped each other’s film events. Though they’ve since hugged it out (literally) and even shared the screen in Pathaan, the journey from Karan Arjun to Karan Arjun 2.0 was filled with drama.
