Amitabh Bachchan-Deepika Padukone's ‘The Intern’, Aamir Khan-Kareena Kapoor Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’: International films that are being remade in Bollywood

Gone are the days when Bollywood relied only on the imagination of its writers to make films. Filmmakers are now taking inspiration from Hollywood and South films to make remakes, bringing the best of world cinema in faces we know and love. In the past, we have witnessed how remakes turned out to be money spinners at the box office. From Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘The Intern’, here’s a list of international films that fans will get to watch in Bollywood soon:

Rambo

Every time Tiger Shroff appears on the big screen, he leaves fans surprised with his ability to perform high-octane action sequences. After doing action films and nailing them to the T, the actor is set to take things a notch higher with the remake of ‘Rambo’. He will be seen stepping into the shoes of Sylvester Stallone to recreate the iconic action film. The film will be directed by Siddharth Anand. Currently, there is no new update about Tiger’s most ambitious project since he is busy shooting for ‘Heropanti 2’. Earlier, Stallone had given a shout-out to Tiger on Twitter and wished him for the project. He had tweeted, “I read recently they are remaking Rambo in India… I wish them luck .. Great character..”

The Intern

Deepika Padukone, who turned producer with ‘Chhapaak’, had announced her second project in 2020. She will be co-producing the remake of the Hollywood film ‘The Intern’ starring Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway. Earlier in a statement, she had said, “'The Intern' is an intimate, relationship-driven film, set in and around the workplace; a story that I believe is very relevant to the present-day social and cultural environment. I have been looking for a light, breezy comedy-drama and this story fits in seamlessly. I cannot wait to begin this journey.” The film was earlier supposed to feature Rishi Kapoor in an important role, but after his demise last year, the makers roped in Amitabh Bachchan to step into his shoes. Deepika and Big B have earlier worked in ‘Piku’ which proved to be a success at the box office. The film was set to release this year but due to the pandemic, it has been postponed to 2022. The film will be directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma.
