Aamir Khan’s blockbusters that were first rejected by Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan worked his way to the top of the success ladder and in his journey, spanning nearly three decades, the actor had to turn down a few good films too for the lack of dates or other reasons. Interestingly, SRK has been the first choice for several filmmakers, and most of the movies that he had to decline were later offered to Aamir Khan. Here’s yet another blockbuster starring Aamir Khan, which was first offered to Shah Rukh Khan! "Shah Rukh was offered '3 Idiots', 'Ferrari Ki Sawari', 'Munnabhai' and other films. He is our first guy; we go to him first, and if he says no, we move on," producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra had told PTI. Interestingly, SRK had to let go of this entertainer because of date issues.

Ashutosh Gowariker-directed ‘Lagaan’, which won international acclaim at the Oscars, is among the list of movies rejected by Shah Rukh Khan. Incidentally, Aamir had also rejected the movie twice but the final script of ‘Lagaan’ won his heart! This sports drama remains to be India’s last film to have been nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film at the prestigious Academy Awards.

This epic entertainer by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra still resonates with the youth of the country. And the filmmaker had offered Shah Rukh Khan the iconic role of an Air Force pilot, which the actor turned down. Eventually, the role was essayed by R Madhavan. According to rumours, Shah Rukh Khan was not keen to play a second fiddle to Aamir, and had hence turned the film down.

Aamir Khan essayed the role of a cop in the suspense-thriller ‘Talaash’, but did you know that this Reema Kagti directorial was first offered to Shah Rukh Khan? According to reports, King Khan was not too convinced about working in a suspense-thriller and hence, declined the offer. Post that, Aamir bagged the part and rest, as they say, is history!
