5 times Aishwarya Rai Bachchan proved she is queen of witty comebacks

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, known for her grace and elegance, also possesses a sharp wit that often takes center stage in interviews and public appearances. Whether she's addressing personal questions or navigating tricky topics, her clever comebacks showcase her intelligence and charisma. With a blend of humour and poise, Aishwarya effortlessly silences critics while keeping the audience entertained. Here's exploring some of her most memorable and witty retorts that highlight her quick thinking and charm.

On her daughter Aaradhya Bachchan

Aishwarya attended an award show this year in Abu Dhabi along with her daughter Aaradhya. The actress frequently faces social media backlash, with critics expressing faux concern about her baby girl potentially missing out on school. However, this time Ash was having none of it and gave it back all at once. When the reporter asked, "Aaradhya is always with you. She’s already learning from the best," Aishwarya quipped "WOAH, she is my daughter. She is always with me." The beauty queen did not engage any further and simply walked away.

Discussing life with her parents

In 2004, Aishwarya Rai graced The Late Show with David Letterman, and her appearance is still talked about for her confident and clever responses. One memorable exchange occurred when Letterman questioned her about living with her parents as an adult. While this might raise eyebrows in the West, it’s a common practice in India. Aishwarya cleverly replied, "It’s fine to live with your parents because it’s also common in India that we don’t have to take appointments to meet our parents." Her quick wit and cultural insight left the audience both amused and impressed.

Appearance on Oprah Winfrey Show

Aishwarya Rai had another noteworthy moment during her 2009 interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show, where the topic of family and cultural norms came up again. Oprah, intrigued by the Indian tradition of adult children living with their parents, posed a similar question. Aishwarya responded thoughtfully, saying, "It’s fine to live with your parents because it’s also common in India that we don’t have to take appointments to meet our parents." Her answer highlighted the deep connection between family and culture in India, showcasing her pride in her heritage.

Taking stand against French media

Aishwarya, a regular at the Cannes Film Festival, faced a challenging question from a journalist about why Indian movies don't feature nudity or graphic intimacy. She confidently replied, “I have never explored and I am not interested in exploring nudity on celluloid.” When the journalist pressed further, Aishwarya shot back, “I feel I am talking to my gynac. I mean who am I talking to here? You're a journalist, stick to that, brother.” Her witty response not only highlighted her stance but also showcased her quick thinking in the face of an awkward situation.

On moving to Hollywood

In 2007, when Aishwarya Rai was questioned about moving to Hollywood, she responded with surprise, saying, "Ek minute, maine kab kaha? Kaunse interview mein?" (One minute, when did I say that?) She clarified, "If you have to ask questions, go ahead, but don't attribute statements to me." Aishwarya highlighted her experience in Tamil, Hindi, Bengali, and English films, asserting that this diversity doesn't mean she is shifting industries but is simply broadening her cinematic experiences.
