Mohit Suri, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s ‘Saiyaara’ needs little over Rs 6 crore to beat Salman Khan’s 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' to become 14th biggest hit of Hindi Cinema

Mohit Suri ’s romantic musical Saiyaara continues to charm audiences across the country, showing remarkable staying power at the box office even in its fourth weekend. The film, starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has now collected Rs 314.10 crore in India, and is just Rs 6.24 crore away from surpassing Salman Khan’s 2015 blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs 320.34 crore) to claim the 14th spot on the list of Hindi cinema’s all-time highest grossers.

From its very first day, Saiyaara defied expectations for a musical romance with fresh faces. The film opened to an impressive Rs 21.5 crore, with word-of-mouth boosting its collections to Rs 26 crore on Day 2 and a stellar Rs 35.75 crore on Day 3. By the end of its first week, the film had already amassed Rs 172.75 crore, signaling that it was more than just a strong opener — it was a nationwide phenomenon.


The second weekend solidified this trend, with Rs 26.5 crore on Day 9 and Rs 30 crore on Day 10 leading to a robust Week 2 total of Rs 107.75 crore. While weekdays saw the expected drop, the film maintained a strong hold, indicating repeat viewership and wide family appeal.

Week 3 collections stood at Rs 28.25 crore, with the third weekend contributing Rs 19.25 crore . The trend continued into Week 4, where Saiyaara earned Rs 2 crore on its fourth Friday and an estimated Rs 3.35 crore on Saturday, keeping the Rs 320 crore milestone well within reach.

The film's success has been attributed to its soulful music, relatable storytelling, and the fresh pairing of its leads. The soundtrack has dominated music charts for weeks, driving audiences to theatres for a full cinematic experience. Moreover, Mohit Suri’s signature emotional beats and heartfelt direction have given the film cross-generational appeal, attracting both younger audiences and older viewers.

If Saiyaara maintains its current pace, it is likely to overtake Bajrangi Bhaijaan within the next few days, especially with Sunday’s collections expected to do the heavy lifting. It would be interesting to see how many screens with Saiyaara retain from 14th August onwards as two major films Coolie headlined by Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna will be clashing with War 2 headlined by Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani.

Crossing Rs 320.34 crore would not only make it the 14th biggest Hindi film of all time but also cement its place as one of the most remarkable success stories in recent Bollywood history.
