Big, fat Dhollywood weddings

It was certainly a year of band, baja and baraat in Dhollywood as three big weddings took place hogging all the limelight. While love birds Chandan Rathod and Preet Mulani set the hitch tales rolling with tying the knot in January this year, evergreen couple Hitu Kanodia and Mona Thiba said ‘I do’ in a very private wedding ceremony in August this year post their engagement in June. The wedding fervor took a surprise turn when Divyang Thakkar and Veronica Gautam tied the knot in the first week of December leaving their fans pleasantly surprised. Here's a rewind to the hitch-side story of the reel life couples turned real life couples, who managed to grab headlines in 2014:

The Kevi Rite Jaish couple bowled over friends and fans alike as they decided to tie the knot. And the news of Divyang and Veronica’s wedding came during a time when Divyang’s film career is witnessing an upward surge after the phenomenal success of Bey Yaar. The happily hitched couple took to social networking to share their wedding pictures. Divyang and Veronica, both, debuted together in the lead in Kevi Rite Jaish, which attained a cult status. And their reel to real life journey has added another cupid tale to the chapters of Dhollywood.

After dating each other for about seven years, the golden couple of Dhollywood (as they are known for their onscreen chemistry), made heads turn as they got engaged. Even though the engagement ceremony was kept to family and friends, the Gujarati film fraternity could not stop themselves from raving about the ‘it’ couple of Dhollywood. Later, Hitu and Mona married in Ahmedabad in a local court, which too became the talk of the town.

Hitu and Mona's wedding got a lot of eyeballs as the two actors tied the knot with much fan following. The couple's marriage is said to have set a new precedent in the industry where reel life couple marrying in real life is actually a rarity. What followed the marriage was elation and celebrations in the Gujarati film industry.

This couple certainly has been the flavor this year, as from the beginning of the year, Chandan and Preet had their share of spotlight. While the reel life couple, who fell in love during the making of the Gujarati film Jivlo, decided to tie the knot in January, December this year the couple welcomed a baby boy, thus ending adding a new member to their cute little nest.

Chandan's wedding to Preet became the talk of the town as the marriage reception was held in a grand way in Anand. While the guestlist included renowned politicians and Gujarati film fraternity, it was the presence of the evergreen jodi Hitu and Mona that grabbed a lot of attention. It is only coincidence that the same year, Hitu and Mona too followed the footsteps of Chandan and Preet by tying the knot.
