A tryst with colours
After the exhibition of works by painters from Hyderabad, Jaipur is hosting the works of Sasanka Ghosh, a self-taught painter from Kolkata.
The artist, all of 30, is on his fourth visit to the Pink City. Besides two group shows and workshops, this is his second solo show. This city is like an album, you just need to keep on turning layer after layer to find a developing metropolis which has the perfect blend of ethnicity and modernity, says Ghosh.

His series this time, being showcased at Gallery Art Chill in Amer, portrays cityscapes and has been presented with acrylic on canvas.
Ghoshs canvases, ranging from small to big make use of bright colours. His theme portrays the sky-high buildings in a modern-day city that jostle for space in a concrete jungle and yet manage to hold up bits of openness and blue around them. In my early days, I painted sitting at the maidan in Kolkata and captured the entire skyline of the city. Those inspirations remain with me, Ghosh says.
The flow of art lovers and inquisitive visitors from foreign lands ensured that Ghoshs art was well-appreciated. While many liked his style of work, others admired his perspective. Im here for the first time in India and this is the most unique experience I ever had in my life. Indeed, these small and medium size canvasses present a unique blend of class that takes an onlooker to a different world, says Claudie, a visitor from France.
