Lucknow witnessed a grand cultural tribute to Nobel Laureate and literary icon Rabindranath Tagore as the Bangali Welfare Society (Bangali Adda) organized Rabindra Sandhya 2026 at the Visvesaraya auditorium. The event was held to commemorate the 165th birth anniversary of the revered poet, philosopher and composer and drew a large gathering of literature and culture enthusiasts.The evening featured a captivating performance of Rabindra Sangeet by renowned Kolkata-based singer Srabani Sen, who enthralled the audience with a selection of Tagore’s timeless compositions. A special theatrical presentation of Mahamaya, based on one of Tagore’s celebrated stories, was staged by the New Delhi theatre group Japonchitro and received an enthusiastic response from attendees.One of the highlights of the programme was the presentation of the Rabindra Samman 2026, an award instituted in Tagore’s name to honour distinguished personalities for their contributions to literature, art and culture. Visitors also explored a Bengali literary exhibition featuring books from prominent Kolkata-based publishing houses.The event was attended by eminent Bengali personalities, artists, writers, intellectuals and distinguished guests from across the city.
