Metro Railway, Kolkata, participated in the sixth edition of InnoMetro, Asia’s leading exhibition and conference for the metro, railway and urban mobility sectors, held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from May 21 to 22, 2026.
The event, themed
‘AI-Enabled Sustainable Urban Mobility for Viksit Bharat’, brought together industry leaders, policymakers and technology experts to showcase innovations shaping the future of transportation. Metro Railway used the platform to present its evolution as India’s first metro system, while highlighting its ongoing efforts to adopt modern and sustainable technologies.
Through a specially curated exhibition stall, Metro Railway showcased its rich legacy in urban transportation alongside its latest technological initiatives. The display featured key projects and innovations, including the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), Linear Induction Motor Technology and the indigenous Kavach safety system, underscoring the organisation’s commitment to safety, efficiency and sustainable mobility.
Metro officers and staff engaged with visitors throughout the exhibition, sharing insights into
Kolkata Metro’s achievements, ongoing developments and future plans. The participation also provided an opportunity to highlight the network’s role in advancing urban transport solutions and supporting India's vision for smarter, technology-driven cities.
